I read LOADS of ...
I read LOADS of feminism when I was young, definitely more than most people. Nowadays, I'm guardedly? pro-equality.
I put up a hater comment which I now regret but it remains the most liked.
Now I'm taking stock of the same slightly irrational reaction happening around me.
Maybe Technology Education and Design as a title encourages guys who enjoy women's insights but not women's politics.
But yes going by the evidence, for better or worse TED is feminist and not just TEDWomen but TED generally
you make it sound ...
you make it sound like Ted is UNDENIABLY feminist. in that case, why are you subscribed to? a feminist YoutubeChannel, feminism being something you "instinctively" abhor? it puzzles me that people would subcribe to TedTalk(which according to you is obviously feminist) only to thumbs down all the feminist videos.
It's like a capitalist buying 10 copies of the communist manifesto just to go on a rant about how the books are a waste of money. it's just irrational and a waste of time for everyone.
Click around. Only ...
Click around. Only new atheists are acceptable (though they are untypically polite) and Buddhists like me. Spirituality maybe, promoting, say, Greek Orthodoxy would be shot down.
Two men's issues total. Zimbardo's 5 minute Demise? of Guys and Porter's Call to Men was "Men have the right to be sensitive like women", (feminist agenda).
I'm picking up a general backlash against feminism, but it's more instinctive than eloquent.
For better or worse, TED is demonstrably feminist and atheist.
TedTalk is not ...
TedTalk is not about spreading propaganda. These people are real people? doing real things in real life. They are invited to TedTalk to simply inform you about what they contributed to the betterment of the world. Feminists are simply one of the many special interest groups invited. If there was an important person out there advocating for masculism, I'm sure he would be on TedTalk. If an atheist contributed positive change to the world, he/she would be on TedTalk talking about atheism.
I respect your ...
I respect your posts and your position uiluj13.
Particular women kneejerk 'dislike' badly. Compare the red/green ratios on
Ariel Garten, Noel Bairey-Merz, Courtney Martin, who really take a hit, with
Brene Brown, Elisabeth Gilbert, Susan Cain, Kiran Bedi.
who all come out shining.
What is the common factor which includes Garten's neuroscience?
And I f**king hate her talk passionately.
I mean what you're saying is right guys? are just too reactive here, so I'm curious what's going on.
My take is it's ...
My take is it's because men aren't mentioned, nor other kinds? of inequality (rich/poor, north/south, age race, orientation, etc). Other talks discuss solutions for everybody. This furthers women's interests exclusively. A few of us are a little jaded from supporting feminism. But you're right, we're being more sensitive than sensible. I've started analysing what's behind this and your opinion is welcome. That doesn't explain Garten, who isn't even feminist, but I distrust her in the same way
I can count the ...
I can count the number of times she mentioned men on my hands. She did not even mention the word feminist once. Only an egotistical dumbass would think this was a video meant to bash men instead of motivating women to consider the possibilities of life. And guess what? In? a capitalist economy, you ARE a hostile competitor. I'm a dude and I'm not a feminist, but I have an urge to cut off your dick because you really don't deserve it, considering how you get offended so easily by everything.
@Crusherix I agree ...
@Crusherix I agree with you, there shouldn't be a woman's ted. But you missed the point of this video. People still see women as an EXCEPTION even though THEY ARE NOT. That is the point. Women SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN SPECIAL STATUS. I am a woman and I believe this. So why are? you swearing and shouting at me? Becuase you can't get the point of this video? Oh well. Not my problem. Have a nice day.
@claing17 Stating a ...
@claing17 Stating a problem is not the same as complaining. And talking about the problem and the solution is a form of action. She is trying to transform what women think? and expect of themselves, so she IS shooting higher. You're basically undermining the power of speech, inspiration, and general communication.
@claing17? This ...
@claing17? This video didn't sound very "complaining" to me... She sounded inspirational and hopeful to women,
@leconfidant Did ...
@leconfidant Did you watch the same video as me?? I'm sure you've had some negative experiences with the opposite gender, but for God's sake, GROW A PAIR!! Women are? not out to get you. Next time, listen to what the woman says instead of projecting your BS.
Wow its always the ...
Wow its always the same...its not fair we are not equal...blah blah....how about you get out there and WORK for what? you want instead if b***hing about what you do not have. Do you think successful men got to be so successful by complaining? How about you stop aiming higher and just shoot higher...That is what that young woman from Afghanistan did.
What grinds my ...
What grinds my gears is that some people will look at the dislike count and imagine misogyny as a motivation rather than understanding that a lot of people just clicked the downward pointing thumb because they thought it was trite, stating the obvious and a little lacking? in substance.
I don't care about ...
I don't care about genres, but it's true that the world's economy has a disease. There's way too many massive leeches taking advantage of everyone.
They have? manipulated things to make them work the way they want to, and anything outside their parameters will threaten that hold they have over things.
Women doing things normally like everyone as they obviously should instead obeying mindlessly as lower class is one of those things that threaten their hold, and so it should be enforced.
Men and? Women ...
Men and? Women deserve equal rights.
Men and Women are not the same.
None of the two is better.
Homosexual ...
Homosexual activists understand the power of words.
Please visit my channel to watch a one-minute video clip in which popular atheist author Richard Dawkins admits that homosexual activists "hijacked the word? 'gay'".
The word "homosexual" is more appropriate and accurate because it, unlike the word "gay", actually describes the behavior/attraction/relationship being discussed.
The word "gay" helps homosexual activists push their agenda.
@leconfidant This ...
@leconfidant This is a TED Women conference. It makes sense that they are speaking of women in the business field. Women are still completely misrepresented and underrepresented in the business sphere. She is simply stating that these brave women from around the world, in places where being a business woman is not seen as morally right or socially correct, are doing an amazing thing and deserve your help and consideration. I don't? see a problem at all.

@billcosbylvr
Nobody owes me anything and equality suits me fine.
But studying? and supporting feminism earnestly was a thankless task. The closer you get to officially organised feminism, it's a fundamentalist ideology of puritanism, neurosis and hatred. As a man supporting it, you hand in your dignity at the door.
And they make up their stats.
"72cents-to-a-dollar", is a discredited myth.
Investment differential? If you can get rich from investing in women per se, go for it.
@leconfidant No ...
@leconfidant No woman owes anything to you because you call yourself a feminist. You really think Lemmon is sexist because she is pointing out your privilege in the business world? Because she thinks women who have the same economic potential as their male counterpart should experience the same recognition and opportunity? Get your head out of your ass.? You are not a feminist. Lemmon is not sexist. You are the sexist one.
@DaftArbiter Look ...
@DaftArbiter Look at the trends for boys in education and consider which way the balance is swinging. It really is time the feminists start letting men into the discussion. It's our mothers, sisters, daughters, friends and colleagues too. We? care. We want to work this out with women. As it is they're pushing this 'Patriarchy' myth on us and making us the enemy. Peace can only come from inclusion. As things are going, they seek a victory over us. How would that work?
@MeganLaber On the ...
@MeganLaber On the contrary. There is no equality at all in this video. It's not just that men aren't mentioned. Other? kinds of inequality (rich and poor, the north and the south, age race or orientation,etc, etc) are not mentioned. Other TED talks discuss solutions for everybody. This whole thing is women furthering women's interests.
she started out ...
she started out sounding like she was doing some kind of poetry presentation.?
I have no idea how ...
I have no idea how this can be viewed as sexist. Just because a well spoken woman? talks about the inequality the female gender suffers in the business sphere does not mean she is trying to place women above men. When you call this video sexist, you are saying that we should stop talking about the goal of equality for humanity, whether that be in class,race, or gender. What you should be doing is applauding her for spotlighting courageous women without a public voice.
I love this example ...
I love this example of a woman,? passionate about her work, well-educated and traveled who can speak with command and emotion. No matter what you feel about the topic, it's difficult not to be impressed by the delivery.
Totally inspiring ...
Totally inspiring and encouraging! ?
@leconfidant Having ...
@leconfidant Having a younger brother with whom I can talk about any topic, I have always had a chance to see firsthand through the eyes of a man. We both agree, that achievements should be based on the training and talents of? an "individual" rather than a gender. Let each person speak for themselves and allow them to achieve based on their skills rather than something they can't change and wouldn't change from birth. This way, the job is always done by whoever can do it best.
@leconfidant I am a ...
@leconfidant I am a woman, and I agree with you that this should not be a matter of conflict. It does have to be considered, though, that in the not so? distant past, women were not afforded appropriate opportunities for success, bases solely on their gender. I think, that in general, the world has spun that issue in the wrong direction, saying that women MUST be represented. To be honest, I don't think we'll move forward any further until achievement has nothing to do with gender or race.
